Speaking at Dev.Objective!

May 09, 2016

Next month I'm speaking at Dev.Objective! It's always an honor when I get selected as one of the presenters. This year I'm giving two talks at the conference.

"HTML5 201" is a look at some HTML5 features beyond the new semantic tags (aside, section, header, etc) that work across most/all current web browsers. We'll look at a few different features in native HTML5 (i.e. no plugins required) for dealing with audio, video, SVG, drag-and-drop and more. No back-end programming experience required, but some knowledge of modern JavaScript will be helpful.

I'm also giving an AngularJS and Ionic deep-dive. We'll spend the first hour going over getting started with AngularJS and some of the fundamentals of how to use that framework. After the break, we'll look at Ionic and building hybrid mobile apps with Ionic and AngularJS. Some previous experience with an MVC framework and/or an HTML library like Bootstrap will be helpful but we'll be starting at the beginning with both, so don't worry if you haven't built anything "huge" with those tools before. (Note: this talk will use Angular 1.x. Angular 2 is coming quickly, but given that it is still in Beta, I'm going to stick to version 1 for the content of this presentation.)

There are still tickets available for Dev.Objective. Hope to see you all there!
