Part-time CF developer wanted

December 06, 2012

South of Shasta is in need of a part-time backup developer to take care of some overflow work for the next 90 days. Currently this is for one specific project, though if the relationship works well, we can extend that to cover other projects too.

First things first: please, only candidates physically located in the US. Sorry, we just don't like paperwork that makes our taxes any more complex than they already are. :) Ditto for big time zone differences.

The project is an older "spaghetti code" ColdFusion app that I inherited from another development team -- no MVC framework is currently in use. Our job is to fix bugs, add enhancements, and along the way make notes about how we can improve the architecture of the site (we probably won't be rewriting the whole thing in an MVC framework, but whatever we can do to make incremental improvements is usually approved by the client).

What I'm looking for is someone who is up to speed on current practices (MVC, CSS/XHTML tableless design, using CFQueryParam, lots of experience writing reusable CFCs, etc) that I can assign individual tasks to, can help fix bugs, and offer feedback on architectural suggestions for the site.

You'll need your own development environment that looks like so:

ColdFusion 9
SQL Server 2008 R2
IIS (we're using IIS7 in Production, but Apache works fine for development purposes)
Experience with PhoneGap is a huge plus

You'll need to be reachable during the PST business day via phone and/or email. Also, we typically do 15 minute "scrum style" meetings each day to go over 3 things: 1) What I got done, 2) What I'm doing next 3) Any roadblocks in my way. We'll also use a task tracking system to delete work and manage the progress.

Anyone interested can send me an email at nolan at southofshasta.com

Thanks.
Nolan
