My WordCamp Schedule

Here's my best guess as to where I'll be hanging out at WordCamp Sacramento. Given that the tracks don't use the same timeslots for all the classes, this isn't as accurate as I'd like it to be. But hey, there are only 2 tracks, it can't be THAT wrong. :)

CFCamp Notes -- API Management from the Trenches, Matt Gifford

APIs are where it's at .
We should all be building APIs for most things these days.

DISCOVERY --
is the API still active?
how strong is the community?
what kind of feedback is there on it?

try not to rely on ONE api to manage everything under your code

designing for the wrong user group
etc

CFCamp Notes - The tale of performance and memory - Gert Franz & Michael Offner-Streit

(I took screenshots of some of the slides, but don't have a great way to get them off my phone at the moment. I'll add them into the notes as soon as I can.)

How do you solve your performance issues?
one by one.
try to analyze from a performance and bad coding perspective
have to define whether performance is/isn't important
if a task runes once a month at 3am when the server isn't busy, it doesn't matter
if "basic response time" is 2+ seconds, it might be worth looking at

CFCamp Notes - The value of your services: are you ready to break the time barrier? -- Jorge Reyes

Cost based pricing vs value based pricing

Cost base pricing
= hourly rates

Complexity of pricing
dev process, resources, time, budget, ROI, risk, etc, etc.

traditional pricing
Example: $75/hour

profit = revenue - cost
to increase profit either increase revenue or decrease cost
