Speaking at SacInteractive and MuraCon

Next week I'm earning an "overachiever" badge and speaking at both SacInteractive and MuraCon.

I'm giving my preso "HTML5 201" at both locations, but at MuraCon I'll be giving the talk with a bit more of a Mura-centric focus. Basically the info is the same, but we'll discuss (and show via demos) how these HTML5 features can work from within a Mura website.

SacInteractive meeting: Web Audio API

Next week at SacInteractive... Web Audio API

Jon Nutting will be presenting a primer course about working with the HTML5 Web Audio API. He'll do a code walk through on how easy it is to build your own audio player using HTML and JavaScript, and then how to stylize the player using CSS. Jon will also discuss some of the great audio filters and effects you can use too, which will allow you to essentially build your own web-based synthesizer...on your own time of course :)  Wednesday Jan 20th, 6:30pm at HackerLab.  FREE and open to everyone. See you there!

ColdFusion Summit Recap

Another successful ColdFusion Summit!  I'm sitting at the airport waiting for my flight home, attempting to wrap my head around everything that's happened the last few days.  There was a metric ton of great content from both Adobe proper and all the presenters.  I saw absolutely no outright bad sessions, everything was top notch (a couple of very minor demo fails, but no real show-stoppers).  I didn't take as many notes as I usually do; all the slide decks were pretty informative and are available for download -- there wasn't much else for me to document.

WordCamp Sacramento Recap

The first WordCamp Sacramento was yesterday.  This was also the first WordCamp I've ever attended (in any location).  I don't advertise myself as "WordPress specialist" tho I have done a few projects with it for clients (I try to be objective and pick the right tool for the job, rather than having a default go-to platform for everything -- though I will say ColdFusion ends up as my tool of choice way more often than anything else, but I digress).  So while I was an attendee and a speaker, I probably had a different mindset and perhaps a different level of expectation than many others at the conference.  Overall the conference was successful, though it was clear that this was the first one and not all the kinks had been worked out just yet. Hey, nothing's perfect.
